The Royal Academy of Arts presents the Kiefer/Van Gogh exhibition from 28th June to 26th October, exploring Van Gogh’s influence on Kiefer. It will feature artworks from both artists, revealing similarities and differences in their approaches. Highlights include significant landscapes and drawings from both artists, with some works being exhibited for the first time in decades.

The Royal Academy of Arts will host the Kiefer/Van Gogh exhibition from 28th June to 26th October, marking the first time their works are displayed together in the UK. This showcase aims to explore the influence Vincent van Gogh has had on Anselm Kiefer’s artistry. It will feature a mix of Van Gogh’s paintings and drawings from the Van Gogh Museum, alongside Kiefer’s own artworks, including previously unseen pieces.

Visitors will discover both shared themes and distinct differences between the artists’ works through selected highlights. Notable pieces include Kiefer’s large-scale landscape works, such as “Die Krähen (The Crows)” and “Nevermore”, alongside Van Gogh’s masterpieces like “Snow-Covered Field with a Harrow (after Millet)” and “Field of Irises near Arles”.

The exhibition will also showcase drawings from both artists. Kiefer’s early works, created during his time inspired by Van Gogh, will be presented next to several of Van Gogh’s drawings, including “La Crau Seen from Montmajour”, which hasn’t been exhibited in London for over 50 years.

The upcoming Kiefer/Van Gogh exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts promises to provide a unique perspective on the artistic dialogue between Anselm Kiefer and Vincent van Gogh. By juxtaposing their work, the exhibition will highlight both similarities and contrasts, offering visitors a deeper understanding of both artists’ contributions to art. With a range of paintings, drawings, and sculptures, this exhibition is not to be missed.
