Robbie Williams debuted his art exhibition, Radical Honesty, in London, attracting a star-studded guest list. The event showcased his Instagram sketches, combining humour with commentary on modern life. Williams drew inspiration from David Hockney and aims to explore a playful approach to art, contrasting with typical celebrity artwork.

Robbie Williams made a grand return to London amid a star-studded crowd for the opening of his first art exhibition titled “Radical Honesty.” The event took place at the Moco Museum in Marble Arch, where celebrities like Louis Theroux, Leigh Francis, and Ella Morgan showed their support for the pop star’s artistic venture.

The artist and his wife, Ayda Williams, flew in from Los Angeles to promote this exhibition, which is now available for public viewing. Williams sported a casual denim jacket and jeans, embodying an approachable vibe. The exhibition showcases a collection of sketches that Williams previously shared on Instagram, combining simple drawings with witty comments on life and various medical conditions.

Attendees at the launch included various personalities such as Philip Colbert, Chris Levine, and Alison Jackson, among others. Williams has expressed admiration for artist David Hockney, whose influence is evident in his work. He reflected on their time together, noting that Hockney’s tips on using an iPad changed his view on digital art.

In an interview, he explained, “If it wasn’t for Hockney, I wouldn’t have thought that iPad drawings would be worthy. I’ve got all these boxes of pens and paints, but you use an iPad, and it becomes simple and quick.” Williams described this journey of creation as exhilarating and akin to “hanging out with a Beatle.”

The art showcase comes following a bustling period for Williams, including a Netflix documentary and a film about his life called “Better Man,” where he’s depicted as a monkey. While the film received praise for its creativity, it fell short at the box office, despite its soundtrack topping charts.

As for new music, Williams is tight-lipped but does have a massive tour planned for the summer, featuring two nights at London’s Emirates Stadium. Art, a long-time passion of his, has mostly remained personal—until now, that is. He candidly stated, “I didn’t want people to shame me. Most celebrities’ artwork… I don’t rate it.”

Williams insisted that, unlike traditional celebrity art that seeks validation, his work is more playful and aimed at exposing the absurdities of life. “I hope my stuff is ridiculous and shows us how ridiculous we are.” His unique outlook may just resonate with many.

Robbie Williams’s exhibition, Radical Honesty, is open to the public at Moco Museum London. Tickets for his shows at Emirates Stadium are available now.
