Alex Monroe, a renowned British jewellery designer, launches his first sculpture exhibition at the Garden Museum, London, titled ‘Into the Wild’. Monroe recalls his early interest in making clay pots, which aligns with his current projects involving clay and biodiversity. His artistic work involves deep engagement with materials and processes, hoping to inspire viewers to reflect on the significance of craftsmanship and patient observation of nature.
The process of staging the exhibition proved challenging as Monroe balances his jewellery design business and environmental initiatives. Nevertheless, he remains committed to engaging with viewers and ensuring the exhibition resonates with them, despite the ambitious work involved.
Throughout the exhibition, Monroe reflects on nostalgia, sharing how his childhood experiences of nature fuel his creativity.
