The Retail Technology Show is moving to ExCel London in April 2024, offering more space and a carnival theme under the leadership of Matt Bradley. With a notable line-up of speakers and a focus on key retail topics, the show aims to create a lively and engaging atmosphere, highlighting innovation in the sector.
The Retail Technology Show (RTS) is relocating from London Olympia to ExCel London this year, promising a unique event themed around a retail carnival. Scheduled for 2nd and 3rd April, the new venue will provide an additional 4,000 sq m, accommodating around 450 exhibitors and 16,000 visitors compared to 11,500 in 2024.
Director and Founder Matt Bradley expressed that the venue change was a significant decision, reflecting a desire for growth. “Olympia has been home to the retail show since 2012, but we needed more space to ensure quality experience for participants.”
The ExCel venue now offers improved transport links and local amenities, facilitating access for attendees. Bradley stated, “Now the Elizabeth Line is operational, allowing our exhibitors and visitors to engage with the numerous opportunities in Canary Wharf.”
The carnival theme aims to make ExCel feel vibrant. Bradley mentioned, “I want to prove that ExCel can be lively – there’s nothing more exciting than a carnival. This year, we’re immersing visitors in that experience with stages named Wondrous, Magnificent, and Spectacular.”
RTS is maturing with a line-up of high-profile speakers, 87% of whom are C-level. Bradley noted, “I never anticipated attracting names like Archie Norman from M&S. The mix of established giants and innovative disruptors will make for an exciting dialogue.”
Suppliers are also engaging more actively, enhancing their marketing strategies around the event. Bradley added, “They’re planning PR campaigns and parties beyond just the two days at ExCel. There’s a lot more energy around the show.”
Bradley hopes to see speakers like Archie Norman and Gymshark’s CTO John Douglas at the event, promising impressive technology displays including innovations from France and US AI suppliers. “The Start-up Superstars section will showcase game-changing ideas from emerging companies.”
Key issues discussed will include AI implementation, supply chain technology advancements, and topics such as sustainability and retail leadership. Bradley highlighted the importance of discussion: “There won’t be much room for silence at the show – there’s a lot to talk about.”
In summarising RTS’s success, Bradley cited the significance of bravery and innovation. He concluded, “Inspiration comes from non-exhibition events like concerts, where you think about adaptability and pushing boundaries in our industry.”
The Retail Technology Show is relocating to ExCel London for 2024, embracing a carnival theme to create a vibrant atmosphere. With an expanded venue and a high-profile speaker line-up, the event is poised for significant growth. Topics like AI, supply chain technology, and sustainability will be key discussions, fostering valuable networking and showcasing innovation in retail. Bradley attributes the show’s success to the courage to innovate and adapt, drawing inspiration from various non-traditional sources.
