Unlocked will open in a Shoreditch warehouse this weekend, hosting warm-up parties before its official launch. The venue aims to reclaim cultural space, featuring DJs like Jyoty, Nooriyah, and Mason Collective. A promo video highlights its mission to counter the trend of nightclub closures in the UK.
A new event space named Unlocked will open in a disused warehouse in Shoreditch, East London, this weekend. The venue aims to serve as a “multidisciplinary exhibition and event space” and has been vacant for a decade, previously used for illegal raves. Unlocked will kick off its programme with the first warm-up party, Unlocked Origins, on March 29, featuring Australian DJ Tobiahs.
While its official opening is scheduled for later this year, Unlocked will host a series of parties including performances by Jyoty, Nooriyah, and Mason Collective this Spring. Nooriyah will host an intimate gathering on April 4, followed by Jyoty on April 5, and Manchester’s Mason Collective will bring their MVSON party with renowned DJs.
In a promotional video, Unlocked expresses resistance to the recent trend of nightclub closures in the UK, stating its purpose as “reclaiming” disused spaces to enhance cultural life, declaring, “doors closing, culture fading. But, we’re pushing back”. The video announces the venue’s mission after ten years of inactivity, encouraging participation in this revitalisation effort.
Unlocked is set to become a vibrant cultural hub in East London, aiming to rejuvenate the area with a series of engaging events. By transforming a neglected warehouse into a lively venue, it promises to counter the trend of nightclub closures and promote cultural experiences. With an exciting lineup of initial parties, Unlocked aspires to foster a new sense of community and artistic expression.
