Jordanian food exporters are showcasing their products at the International Food and Drink Event in London to enter the UK market. The event aims to establish trade relationships and promote diverse food items. With a free trade agreement in place, Jordanian products enjoy tariff-free access to the UK market.

Jordanian food exporters are targeting the UK market through participation in the International Food and Drink Event in London this week. The exhibition, running from Monday to Wednesday, serves as a platform to promote a variety of products, including confectionery, baked goods, and spices, to a global audience of buyers and distributors.

Ahmad Khudari, president of the Jordan Exporters Association, believes the event is crucial for establishing trade relationships. He stated, “Our objective is to establish direct channels with international buyers and distributors, highlighting the competitive edge and superior quality of Jordanian food products.”

The focus includes expanding into the halal food sector and stimulating domestic production. Halim Abu Rahma, general manager of the association, noted that international buyers showed strong interest, offering Jordanian companies an opportunity to showcase their innovative and high-quality products.

Abu Rahma emphasised the strategic importance of the UK market post-Brexit, stating, “The UK’s autonomy in trade policy, coupled with its substantial Arab and Muslim consumer base, presents a unique opportunity for Jordanian food manufacturers.”

In 2021, a free trade agreement between Jordan and the UK was implemented, giving Jordanian products tariff-free entry into the UK market. Trade between the two countries in 2023 was valued at approximately 303 million dinars ($427 million). The International Food and Drink Event 2025 will feature 1,500 global exhibitors, attracting around 30,000 buyers from over 105 countries.

Jordanian food manufacturers are strategically positioning themselves in the UK market by participating in a significant food exhibition. This initiative aims to enhance trade ties, showcase product quality, and leverage recent trade agreements. The growing interest from international buyers indicates potential for growth in the halal food sector and beyond.
