Mokspace in London showcases Lee Youngsil’s “Ceramic Gardens in Bloom” exhibition, featuring her fusion art inspired by traditional Korean colours and motifs. The exhibition runs from January 4 to February 3 and highlights 20 unique ceramic works that combine modern and classic elements.

On February 2, I visited Mokspace, a gallery in London that promotes Korean art, to see the exhibition “Lee Youngsil: Ceramic Gardens in Bloom.” Located near the British Museum, Mokspace has been showcasing Korean artists since 2011. The exhibition featured fusion art by Lee Youngsil, a graduate of Dongduk Women’s University in Seoul, who has an extensive exhibition history across various countries including France, China, and the U.S.

The “Ceramic Gardens” collection, on display from January 4 to February 3, highlights Lee’s inspiration drawn from the five traditional Korean colours (obangsaek): white, black, blue, yellow, and red, alongside floral and avian motifs. The exhibition displayed 20 of her unique works, each featuring a blend of modern and classical elements, characterised by vibrant imagery and tactile ceramic components.

The exhibition at Mokspace successfully showcases Lee Youngsil’s artistic vision, merging traditional Korean influences with contemporary aesthetics. With her extensive exhibition record and unique creative style, Lee’s work not only enriches the London art scene but also enhances the appreciation of Korean artistry abroad.
