FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has suggested that Formula 1 should consider the possibility of returning to V10 engines fuelled by sustainable e-fuels. The transition to synthetic fuels aligns with F1’s goal to achieve a net-zero carbon footprint by 2030. Although the nostalgic appeal of V10 engines is significant among long-time fans, the real challenge lies in whether current and future manufacturers will embrace the idea. Paddy Lowe, founder of Zero Petroleum, highlighted the viability of hybrid systems for mainstream automotive use. He indicated that while the idea of V10 engines is intriguing, the hybrid formula remains the leading solution for Formula 1.
