Informa plc has announced the retirement of Anticipate London, which integrated several major safety and health exhibitions. The event will not recur, reflecting industry changes and shifting professional preferences. The Safety & Health Practitioner publication will also cease in February 2025, joining a list of events that have concluded amid evolving market demands.

Informa plc, a London-based business intelligence and exhibitions group, has decided to discontinue its Anticipate London event, which debuted last December at ExCeL, Docklands. This event incorporated the Safety and Health Expo, Facilities Show, IFSEC International, and FIREX International, but will not take place again in future editions. Informa expressed gratitude for the support received throughout the years from the professional community.

Informa’s decision to retire Anticipate stems from changes in how UK professionals engage with diverse topics concerning security, safety, health, and facilities. In a statement, they noted, “This industry is about evolving and adapting.” They recognised the need to meet the changing preferences of their audience, serving the community effectively over decades.

The publication Safety & Health Practitioner (SHP) will cease operations in February 2025, following its last print edition in 2016. Despite continuing online coverage, the publication’s closure highlights the transition occurring within this sector. Informa acknowledges the importance of its customers during the evolution of events within this field, thanking them for their support over the years.

Anticipate London aimed to address the urgent challenges faced by professionals in an ever-evolving landscape, focusing on risk minimisation, technological advancements, and climate change. The event was designed to showcase the latest innovations, offering a platform for integrated systems to enhance safety and operational efficacy. This initiative represented a commitment to preparing businesses for future demands.

Previously, events like Safety & Health Expo and FIREX International were key players in the UK’s trade show scene, but their decline has led to the retirement of Anticipate. The last planned Anticipate London 2024 was scheduled for December 2-4, showcasing a shift in industry priorities. Now, the legacy of these brands appears to be coming to an end, marking a significant shift in the landscape of trade events.

Informa plc has officially retired the Anticipate London event, marking the end of a significant chapter for several key safety and health exhibitions. This decision reflects wider changes in the industry and acknowledges the shifting preferences of professionals. With the closure of relevant publications and events like Safety & Health Expo, it signals a transformative period for the sector, although Informa aims to continue supporting the community in new formats.
